South Chicagoland Young Democrats featured in Chicago Tribune !
The South Chicagoland Young Democrats recently welcomed a reporter Glenn Jeffers and a photographer from The Chicago Tribune to one of their Thursday meetings. Read the feature story here. From the article:
Bringing in more students from Rich East in Park Forest and Bloom Trail in Chicago Heights, the group started dabbling in south suburban politics, passing out literature for State Sen. Debbie Halvorson and endorsing Tom Dart's bid for Cook County sheriff.
Their work will be honored this month by the Young Democrats of Illinois, which chartered the group as the first on the high school level. The state group will name them state chapter of the year.
But as much as this pads the college applications, the kids spend a lot of time during meetings just catching up on high school life.
"They're not just legs for people running for office," says Kopycinski. "They have fun at the meetings. It's just so important [for them] to be able to reach out with their peers and share their ideas."

South Chicagoland Young Democrats - we'll vote.
